happytech.net - LiveChat v2.1 (Beta) - 2.5 is coming soon!!!

[Home]

LiveChat was inspired, and uses many methods described on Alexander Haneng's site. as well as several chapters from the 'Instant ASP Scripts' book. Below are some updates I'll be making for future releases. Within the next week I'll be releasing the code for my viewers for free. The only thing I ask in return, is that if you make updates or changes to the code, that you offer it free to our viewers. LiveChat v2.5 is written entirely in ASP, using VBScript.

  • Alexander Haneng
Many thanks to Alex's 'Lesson 3', which first introduced the concept of writing a chat room in ASP. For those of you who don't know Alex, he has been a great contributor to the ASP world by offering free well written ASP lessons on his site. (Click here to see Haneng's lessons @ happytech, or Haneng's site.
  • Instant ASP Scripts
An excellently written book, which include a great chapter on writing an online ChatRoom. It uses the same method Alex uses in his lesson, and that happytech.net uses in their LiveChat 2.0 (beta). A tip on the price of this book. I originally found this book in the stores, which was charging $50.00. Since I'm an affiliate with amazon.com, I have it on happytech for $39.99 if your interested.
  • Ken Wincel
CEO/Founder of happytech.net. The author of LiveChat v2.0.

Future Updates

  • Profile Information for users who sign on. May even add the ability to upload a small picture which will display in the profile. Profiles can be looked at by click on the name on the right side-bar.
  • Enhancements to the message frame (On the bottom), to mark message as urgent, which will display red. And send a pop-up message. Kinda like a pager feature.
  • If you have other great ideas for enhancing this application, please send them to 'livechat@mail.happytech.net'.

Report Bugs/Misc
